A cap you set, in settings
LadBet Deposit Limits
Per day, per week or per month, across the whole account. A tighter limit starts immediately. A looser one waits out a cooling-off period, which is the entire reason a limit is worth setting.
A deposit limit is the most useful two minutes available on a gambling account and the least used. It costs nothing, it does not restrict anything you were going to do anyway, and it is the only setting that acts on your behalf at the exact moment you would not choose it.
Setting one
In account settings, on the website or in the app.
- Open account settingsThen limits.
- Choose a periodDay, week or month. All three can run at once.
- Enter an amountWhat you are prepared to lose over that period, not what you hope to win.
- ConfirmA new or tighter limit applies at once, including to a deposit already in progress.
Picking a figure
The useful question is what you could lose entirely over a month without it changing anything: not a bill, not a plan, not a conversation with somebody. That figure is usually lower than the one that first comes to mind, and the gap between the two is worth paying attention to on its own.
Running several at once
A monthly limit stops a bad month and a daily limit stops a bad evening, and they catch different things. Somebody who sets only a monthly cap can still lose the whole of it on one Saturday. Setting both is the version most people actually want.
How the asymmetry works
This is the part that generates complaints and the part that makes the tool worth having.
Tightening
Immediate, always, including mid-session and including on a deposit you are in the middle of making. There is no delay, no confirmation step designed to slow you down and no conversation with support required.
Loosening
Requested rather than applied, and it takes effect only after a cooling-off period has passed. During that period the old limit stays in force. You can cancel the request at any point before it takes effect, and nothing prompts you to reconsider — it simply waits.
Why it is built that way
Because the moment somebody most wants a limit removed is the moment it is doing the most good. A limit that can be lifted in thirty seconds is a setting rather than a protection, and the cooling-off period is the whole of the difference between those two things. It is also a regulatory requirement, but it would be the right design regardless.
What a deposit limit does not do
Three things, and knowing them prevents relying on it for something it was not built for.
- It does not cap losses. Money already in the account, and money won and restaked, sit outside it. A loss limit is the tool for that and it works alongside rather than instead.
- It does not cap stakes. A single large bet from an existing balance is unaffected.
- It does not block access. If what you want is to stop rather than to cap, a time-out or GAMSTOP is the tool.
What to do when a limit is reached
The moment a cap bites is the moment it earns its keep, and it is also the moment it is most irritating.
The urge to find a way round it
A second account, a different payment method, a different operator. All three are recognisable as the same impulse once you have seen it named, and noticing that is worth more than any of the settings on this page. A limit reached earlier than expected is information about the month rather than an obstacle in it.
A better response
Wait for the period to reset, which is what the limit was set to make you do. If that wait feels genuinely difficult rather than merely annoying, the free and confidential number is 0808 8020 133, open at any hour, run by people with no connection to this company and nothing to sell.
Limits outside this account
Worth knowing about because they are stronger, for the same reason GAMSTOP is stronger than our own self-exclusion.
A gambling block with your bank stops payments at the card level before they reach any operator, and most banks apply their own cooling-off period of up to 48 hours before lifting one. PayPal offers the same. These sit entirely outside the gambling account, which means they cannot be adjusted in the middle of a session from a screen that is already open.
For somebody managing a hobby, our limits are the right tool and are easier to live with. For somebody whose gambling has become a genuine problem, the bank-level block and GAMSTOP are the ones that hold, and the safer gambling page covers the full set alongside the free helpline on 0808 8020 133.
The limit tools are quick to set and easy to live with. A quiet word with somebody impartial is available on 0808 8020 133, free, whenever you want it. An account requires you to be at least 18.
Common questions
Where do I set a deposit limit?
Account settings, then limits, on the website or in the app. It takes about a minute and costs nothing.
How quickly does a limit apply?
A new or tighter limit applies immediately, including mid-session. A request to loosen one waits out a cooling-off period first.
Can support remove a limit for me?
No. The cooling-off period is not discretionary and there is no route around it.
Does a deposit limit cap my losses?
No. It caps money paid in. Money already in the account and winnings restaked sit outside it — a loss limit is the tool for that.
Can I set more than one?
Yes. Daily, weekly and monthly limits can run together, and they catch different things.
Is a bank block better?
It is stronger, because it stops payments before they reach any operator and has its own cooling-off period. For managing a hobby, our limits are easier to live with.
