How to read a promotion generally

Five questions answer any offer at any operator, and they take about two minutes. If an offer cannot be read against them in that time, that is itself information.

What triggers it, and what it pays

The trigger is usually a qualifying bet or a deposit, with a minimum amount and a minimum price attached. Two of those forms are worth watching for specifically. Enhanced place terms on a large handicap genuinely improve an each-way bet, sometimes substantially, and they cost nothing to take if you were backing the race anyway.
